Technical Tour or a Home Inspection Tour

We will be offering a choice of a Technical Tour or a Home Inspection Tour on Friday March 5, 2010 from 11:45 am until 5:00 pm. Register at our conference hotel Waterloo Inn starting at 10:45 am

Canada's First LEED Platinum House and Canada's First LEED Gold City Hall

This years Technical Tour will be held at Canada's first LEED Platinum home in Guelph, Ontario. This two story 2,300 sq ft home has achieved the required performance in the areas of sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selection, innnovative design and indoor air quality. It features a rain water harvesting system which supplies water for toilets, dishwasher, laundry and underground sprinkler system. Harvesting 100 % rainwater from the roof and storing it in a 1500 gallon holding tank it is estimated this systems reduces reliance on municipal water services by 40%. Other features include solar panels, a geoexchange system, and a number of sustainable building products.

A second stop will take you to the City of Cambridge's new City Hall. Recently awarded the LEED Gold standard it's the first and so far only LEED's certified City Hall in Canada. The tour will be conducted by the project manager, a great opportunity to ask your questions on energy construction and sustainability to someone on-site during the construction phase. The tour will include pick up at the Waterloo Inn Conference centre, travel, faciltated tour of the site and a sandwich lunch from Subway. Register at the Waterloo by 11:00 am. Tour will depart at 11:45 am sharp!

Home Inspection Tour

You will be visiting two home sites in Waterloo Region.
Homer Watson House & Gallery

Homer Watson House & GalleryThe Homer Watson House & Gallery is the homestead of Homer Watson, Canada's first noted landscape artist (1855-1936). The Gallery, constructed in 1906, is one of the oldest operating galleries in the Province of Ontario. In 1955, the house was officially recognized by the Historic Sites and Monuments of Canada. In 1980 the house and surrounding three acre property were designated under the Ontario Heritage Act as being of architectural and historic significance.

The Home Inspector Tour will include pick up at the Waterloo Inn, travel, facilitated tour of the sites and a sandwich lunch from Subway. There will be a briefing at the hotel before boarding the bus. Be sure to arrive by 11:30 am.

Registration Fee for either the technical tour or the home inspection tour is $50

Registration by 11:00 am at the Waterloo Inn on Friday March 5th.
