Thank you to everyone for a successful 2010 Education Conference

We had great response from Home Inspectors across Ontario at our annual conference. When all the counting was done we had 260 people attending the weekend events. The education workshops were well received, the home inspection tours were informative and the exhibitor hall saw lots of traffic. This year we will be hosting two networking events over the weekend. The Exhibitors Reception will be held Friday March 5 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. This event will provide you with an opportunity to meet and talk with our exhibitors in a relaxed atmosphere. On Saturday we will be hosting a Meet & Greet. Just added to the schedule this event will be an opportunity to network with the over 200 attendees at this years conference. Tours provide great opportunity for hands on learning

The 2010 Education Conference Tours are shaping up to be a great hands on learning experience for both new and experienced Home Inspectors.

The Technical Tour will take Home Inspectors to examine two LEED certified sites. The first site is Guelph builder, Reid's Heritage Homes LEED Platinum Certified home. The second the City of Cambridge's LEED Gold Certified City Hall.

The Home Inspection Tour will take Home Inspectors to examine two typical homes in Waterloo Region. The first site is a 1960's brick two storey (generously donated by one of our student members). The second Homer Watson House & Gallery, built in 1906 this is a great example of historic homes in the area.

Both tours will include a lunch break with sandwiches from Subway.

Come on Friday March 5th and take advantage of this great opportunity to 'inspect' some unique sites in Waterloo Region.

Share your home inspection experiences and stories with your peers at the 2010 Education Conference

This years conference will feature one session dedicated to our members and their stories. The 2010 Education Conference committee invites all members to share your experiences, interesting photo's, unusual events and experiences by compiling a 5 - 10 presentation to share during a scheduled session. It can be unusual, interesting or just funny, just keep them relevant to home inspection. At the session we will be inviting the audience to vote on their favourite presentation/story and the top three will receive a prize.

Send your submission to Nitin Mehta of the conference committee at nitinrhi@sympatico.ca. It would be great if you can send it in a microsoft office power point format - if you need assistance Nitin will help you out. You can do the presentation yourself or one of the conference committee members can present for you.

The OAHI Education Conference is coming to Waterloo Ontario

This years conference will be held at the Waterloo Inn and Conference Centre, just 88 km from the OAHI office in Mississaga. Our 2-day agenda will be filled with great workshops and our popular offsite tours and home inspection.

Our members have told us they are concerned about the price of education during these difficult economic times and we are excited by the Waterloo Inn's ability to provide us with a top facility, quality food and a reasonable room rate. We are able to offer a full 2 day conference for $325 (plus GST) for members and a special price of $225 (plus GST) for students. The price has never been lower for 16 education sessions including CEU's. In addition we have negotiated a low room rate starting at $109.00 (plus taxes) per night. Driving in for the day? No problem. Parking is free and easily accessible from Hwy 8 from 401.
